Coffee the delicious brew
If you have to have your cup of coffee to start your day, welcome to coffee lovers post.
I usually start my day with at least two cups of the brew and for that reason I buy the lite or half caffeinated type and my two favourite brands are Folgers 1/2 Caff, and Maxwell House 1/2 caff, they both have this great taste I have not found elsewhere. I know, I sound like Mrs. Olson - remember her? I sometimes mix in a little of the regular caffeinated coffee and also like to infuse my coffee with different flavoured ground coffee beans. Again, Folgers has Hazelnut, Cinnamon, French Vanilla and Chocolate Swirl. For example I will use three tablespoons of regular to one tablespoon of flavoured and the result is 4 cups of a delightful tasting drink. I also buy Java Delight's Hazelnut Creme Decaff, it is delicious too, ether alone or with regular coffee.
Now, when I want a really strong flavour in coffee I will savour with dessert, then I will top my coffee grounds with a lot of broken up cinnamon bark or a half vanilla bean cut lengthwise so the boiling water can saturate these topings and infuse the coffee with their flavour. You have to experiment to find the level of flavour you want to enjoy, some people like milder tasting flavourings and others might like the taste of the Mexican - cafe de olla - a coffee and cinnamon mix brewed in a kettle and served with cream or milk, (soy milk or almond milk if you are lactose intolerant) strong tasting and oh so yummy. Experiment.
There is something so nice and welcoming about having a cup of java in an early morning, pondering on life while sitting in your backyard by yourself or with your spouse or with visiting family or friends, sharing conversation and a slice of pie or cookies or biscotti. Doesn't that sound like a delicious way to spend your time !
A tip to keep coffee fresher. Once I open a coffee tin or container, I keep it in the refrigerator on the bottom shelf of your fridge. So far it works for me in maintaining ground coffee fresher longer - although that problem does not exist at home, we are coffeeholics, we drink lots of it.
Enjoy
