One Mean Cookie Woman "We're cooking!!"

Non-stick pans

Over the years; as I am sure everyone has; I have owned several makes of pans that were supposed to be "non-stick pans". Unfortunately, the great majority proved they were not long lasting in the "non-stick" promise.

About two years ago, our local Albertson's grocery super market had a promotion where you would collect stickers with every $10 purchase which you could use to trade for Thomas Rosenthal Group pans and .....bingo, I found the perfect "true" non-stick pan.   I can caramelize onions without any oil, just a bit of water or oil if I want them to look shiny and low and behold..... nothing sticks, you use a lower flame so you never over cook or burn your food.   I love my two Thomas pans, they go on and on and on............and.....

Since purchasing the Thomas Rosenthal Group pans, I could only acquire 2 during that promotion,  I don't know where to buy them.  I am still looking for them.   Maybe it was an exclusive offer through Albertsons.  -  I hope not.

But I have found another two brands of cooking and frying pots and pans.     One of them is Denmark and the other one is Calphalon, both of which you can purchase at Bed, Bath and Beyond and before that at Linens N' Things (sob, sob, no longer around).

I used my mail delivered discount coupons and headed over to BB & B and got my first pan, Denmark Tools for Cooks 11" Anodized Non-Stick frying pan and I was in love!!!   That pan cooked the most beautiful steaks, chicken breasts, eggs, sauteed veggies, roast nuts, you name it.   You use low flame and do not preheat the pans.

Then I got Calphalon.   They came in a set of two pans and I also love them.    Nothing sticks or burns in them and you use a low flame and do not have to preheat them.    And as with Thomas and Denmark, Calphalon sears and browns roasts beautifully sealing in the juices so when you roast them, they are never dry and look absolutely delicious.

I still have my 12 piece set of Stainless Steel pots and pans which also get a lot of use for soups, stews, pot roasts, etc.    I also have my iron skillet which also serves as a cake pan when I make Pinneapple Upside Down cake or corn bread.

I feel I have enough pots and pans to last me a lifetime but I had to get the right pan/pot for the right jobs and unless I start running a restaurant I probably won't buy any more of them.
