French bread too hard? Make crostinis or croutons

FRENCH BREAD LOAF TOO HARD? NO PROBLEM, YOU CAN MAKE CROSTINIS OR CROUTONS

So you bought a baguette or Italian bread loaf, and the left over is too hard to eat?   No problem, it will not be wasted.   You can make your own delicious crostinis for bruschetta or croutons.

Nowadays, you can buy Gluten Free loaves of bread, so you can be sure your croutons or crostinis are enjoyed by those with Gluten allergies.

CROSTINI SLICES

Instructions:

Turn your oven to 400o F.

Slice the bread length wise.   Soften butter (just leave it out of the fridge at room temperature), season the butter with garlic powder, crushed oregano or whatever other seasonings you like to use and spread on the bread and slice the bread into one inch thick wedges.

Place on cookie sheet and place in the oven for about 8 to 10 minutes.   Keep checking on them, you want them lightly browned but they can very quickly burn.   Take out of the oven and cool on cooling rack.

You can have them like that with a pasta dinner.

You can make bruschetta appetizers, using your own chopped tomato mix.

You can use them to top soups

You can use them as salad siders.

FOR CUBED CROUTONS:

Slice the bread length wise, butter as described above, then cut bread into strips and then into cubes.

Place in cookie sheet and into a 400 o oven for about 5 to 7 minutes.   Keep checking them, you want them lightly browned.   Once ready, take out of oven and place croutons on a plate.   You can store left over croutons in the fridge in a tight lid container.   They will stay crunchy and last for a couple of weeks.
